No treasure for me. I've taken a break for a few weeks because of the weather, but thought i'd go last night. Nothin'. The bakery that has gone to a lot of trouble to keep us out actually moved their dumpster indoors. or got rid of it. Or installed a cloaking device. Too bad, that was my favorite.

I think I may "retire" for a while. It was fun while it lasted, I can't afford the loss of sleep and other things I want to do with my free time. As much as diving helps, we've been blessed with enough income to actually buy stuff now. Still have enough bread for a few more weeks, too!

I knew I couldn't stay away for too long! The Lord had mercy on the loss of our bakery diving spot, and at the health food store, I got 8 boxes of "fresh" made mini cakes and cupcakes of unusual size. Street value of around $40. Also there was about 12 of those little organic milks, still tasted great, and went well with the cake! Also a few boxes of weird crackers. Good haul for almost an hour!

Back on patrol! Health food market had 4 bags of chips & pretzels, and about 6 bottles of "fresh" juice. I passed on a bunch of yogurt that was about 2 weeks old, especially with the warmer temps. Police patrolling my bookstore spot. Bakery outlet is closed, and a closer one is uncomfortably in the open, factory trucks constantly going by. I might actually have to buy bread for the 1st time since last May!

I started getting the itch again to head out. I was getting excited just thinking about it last evening. I blogged below:

Went out last night since I didn't have to get up early for work. Should have stayed home! I got stranded at Bored ers when my van wouldn't start. Parked next to their dumpster! Waited an hour to let it cool down and still wouldn't start (a recurring problem last summer), so I had to walk home a few miles, and thought I'd drive the other car back in the morn. So I walk home at 2am, and get up at 8 and have to get it towed out of there. A little embarassing explaining to the mgr, but he was cool. If they had had anything good, it might have been worth it. No books, magazines, nothin'. I dug deep, too since i was bored!

If yer prone to "fibbing", you could mention that you're feeding a feral cat colony there.

Now go out and pick up some Fr1skys!

Not a lot lately, been trying to find a new place to get bread in privacy. I've been taking a risk going to couple bakery outlets. 1 is open to a lit, busy area with a lot of their truck traffic, plus it's in a gate. The other one is in the back of the place about 50 feet from the door with lights on and a 3rd shift working. Good for a super-quick grab, I guess. on July 4th, I hoped they might have the day off, and it payed off! No cars around, so I stocked up! Got about 20 bags or so of bread, buns & bagels. Gave some to the neighbor :) Tried to dig deep for the good stuff (usually on the bottom, I've found), but couldn't see any, figured I didn't need it that bad!

Tommy,
Glad you're having luck with bread. My own luck seems to be changing lately. A very large local grocery that usually compacts ALL discards, has started using a large construction style dumpster. In it yesterday, I found about 600lbs of chocolate bars with JULY expiration dates. Now I'm having trouble giving it all away. ;)
